The Riddle , Wilderness Festival · 2026

An evolving immersive world created for The Riddle at Wilderness Festival, reimagined each year through a completely new visual theme. Across three years, I developed, sourced, built and styled each environment using reclaimed materials, found objects and handmade elements, allowing the space to transform while keeping The Riddle’s playful identity at its core, with performers complimenting and bringing these spaces I build to life.

THE PROJECT

For 2026, I took The Riddle into a more raw and material-led world with the theme Reclaimed Wild. The space was built around the collision of nature and discarded materials like corrugated metal, reflective surfaces, reclaimed objects, greenery and handmade structures. I wanted it to feel overgrown, unexpected and slightly surreal, transforming overlooked materials into something immersive and beautiful.

The front entrance

BUILDING THE WORLD

The world was built through layers of homemade reflective chandeliers, hanging spoons, trippy mirrors, reclaimed materials and found objects, woven together with greenery and natural textures. Everyday and discarded objects were reimagined into unexpected details, creating a space that felt wild, surreal and full of things to discover.

THE PROJECT

In 2025, The Riddle became a surreal circus world. Playful, theatrical and deliberately strange. I used bold pattern, colour, handmade props, collected objects and unexpected details to create an environment that felt as though you had stumbled into a slightly wonky travelling circus. The focus was on discovery, humour and creating moments that rewarded people for looking closer and connecting back to your inner child.

The Wendy - Outside

BUILDING THE WORLD

For this year’s circus theme, I reimagined a simple children’s wendy house as the immersive entrance to The Riddle stage. From a blank blue shell, I transformed it with 90% scrap material into a richly detailed circus playhouse with deep reds, golds, greenery and an upcycled cuckoo house. What better way to connect back to your inner child?

The Wendy - inside

BUILDING THE WORLD

Inside, I designed and dressed the space to become a playful, interactive environment filled with texture, light, prints, suspended decorations, and hand-crafted props such as a fortune wheel and infinity mirrors, evoking a playful nostalgia and curiosity.

THE PROJECT

2024 was where my world with The Riddle began. The direction was a trippy, whimsical garden, transforming an abandoned caravan in a secret speakeasy entrance to the stage.

the caravan - Before & After

BUILDING THE WORLD

The space through colour, pattern, foliage, unusual objects and handmade details. It was playful and imperfect, with the environment evolving naturally as we built it, establishing the experimental, resourceful approach that has continued through every version of The Riddle. We cut a hole in the caravans bathroom which was the entrance to the stage. It was interactive, trippy and theatrical.
